What is a MAP Pricing agreement?

As an online shopper you have probably seen items that do not list a price, and next to that the phrase “Add Item to cart to see the lowest price.” The reason for this is a pricing agreement called MAP, or Minimum Advertised Price. We, as retailers, agree to advertise only that minimum (MAP) price online. In return, there are certain benefits that we receive for abiding by our agreement. For instance, the retailer that follows the agreement will be among the first to receive news and early shipments of the manufacturer's new products.

While restricted in the price that can be advertised online, the retailer can sell a product at any price they wish. For example, an item may have an MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) of $300. The MAP price may be set at no lower than $200. But the final price you pay could be as low as $150.

MSRP price $300
MAP price $200
RETAILERS price $150

We have MAP agreements with several suppliers. BuyPlumbing.net adheres to our agreements with our suppliers. However, we DO offer Lower Prices for many of these items!
